My Hero Academia released their third movie, My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission on October 29, 2021. The movie came out in theaters with access to English dubbing or English subtitles. The movie includes some of our favorite heroes as they are stationed in different parts of the world with Izuku Midoriya (Justin Briner), Shoto Todoroki (David Matranga), and Katsuki Bakugou (Clifford Chapin) all together. The three characters are working under pro hero Endeavor, Shoto’s father, Enji Todoroki (Patrick Seitz). The heroes are investigating a cult of people known as the “Humanize” group.

The Humanize group is a group of people whose goal is to get rid of all meta humans. While intervening in a robbery, Izuku Midoryia gets caught up in a situation that leads to him being framed as a mass murderer. With a newly introduced character named Rody Soul (Ryan Colt Levy), Izuku has to manage hiding from the authorities and continuing his mission to investigate Humanize.

This movie is not canon to the series and it can be watched as a stand alone, though I think that if you watch it as a stand alone you may not feel as attached to the main characters as you would be if you watched the show. With that, if you do consider watching this movie I want to appreciate it for it’s animation and the incredible work that was done with the voice acting. The soundtrack was beautiful and the movie evoked emotions that I expected it to.

Something that I was not expecting though was the booklet the theater handed to me when I went to see the movie. The book contains overviews of the characters, a Q and A with Kohei Horikoshi, creator of My Hero Academia, and a short story containing spoilers.

After talking to my mom and sister they both agreed that it was a good movie. My mom, someone who hasn’t actually watched My Hero Academia, was very attached to the characters and their storylines.

With that I would recommend this to people who’ve watched the series, if you haven’t watched the series I would recommend watching some kind of recap for each of the seasons or just watching the series!
